Almost panicked o_O

Sun Sep 6, 2009, 3:16 PM
...but not because of the bullets, it was because of me not being able to finish my painting due Wednesday o_o.

So there was a shootout at my city at a street that's near the border (click for the news [link]) and the university decides to close the entire campus for 3 days until the next day after labor day. I had a painting due Wednesday and I almost panicked when I heard the news. I then sent an email to the professor asking for an extension, and we all got it (thank God! lol).

Although it was for our safety, I think this closing of the campus for 3 days was a bit exaggerated. At least they could have closed the entrance to the southern area of the campus instead of it all. But oh well, it's all for a greater good. At least I have time to work on my other non school-related artwork!

The local mini-con was a success!

Tue Jun 30, 2009, 9:31 AM
I am really very happy with how the local mini-con went :D. I was able to sell most of the things I did. I had made 4 hair clips, 4 shikon-no-tama (from inuyasha) necklaces, 4 kyo (from fruits basket) bracelets, 2 yuna (from FFX-2) earrings, 4 onigiri earrings and 6 onigiri necklaces. From all that, I was only left with 2 kyo bracelets, 1 yuna earring, and 1 onigiri necklace!! :D. It all went very awesome for my other table partners, who were selling their own stuff too. One was selling her homemade onigiri plushies, another one was selling bookmarks and pins, and another one was selling food, drinks and candy xD. I think the food one was the most successful one because it was SO DARN HOT!!! x___x.

Anyway, it went really awesome for all of us ^^ I can't wait for the next one! (and this time I'll get prepared with more shikon-no-tama necklaces xD those sold really quick!)

Another semester ends...

Thu May 14, 2009, 6:01 PM
Last week were the last days of class, and my final critiques for my studio classes. The critiques I had were for Ceramics II, Printmaking I, and Painting II.

In both Printmaking and Ceramics II, we had to present all the works done during the semester. Both were very successful not only for me, but also for all my classmates :). Both teachers were very happy with all our pieces and said it had been one of the most successful semesters in a while :D.

As for Painting II, the final assignment was to do a landscape, and so I presented my "Bridge to Education" painting. I didn't really receive the feedback I wanted from my teacher. He only said that I had overused the white but he appreciated the effort I put into it. Pretty lousy I must say.

Still, it was very fun to paint that landscape :). I would have liked to spend more time in it and give it more details to the foreground (it was the last thing I did, and I kind of rushed it in the end to finish it.) It was very fun because I had the experience of having to take the easel, paint, brushes, and my stuff from inside the painting room all the way to the location where I was going to paint (which was the hallway on the second floor of a building, meaning I had to take the elevator). On the way I had to cross a street twice and bear with the noise made by the wheels on the easel rolling over brick paths, as well as strong wind. It was quite an adventure! :D

Well, now that I'm done, I'll have to find the time to get to do some more artwork since I'll start helping my mom with her business full time(she runs a bead shop). I want to at least get to do a good bunch of business cards during these summer vacations :).

It's Artsy Time!

Mon Jan 26, 2009, 5:40 PM
Hello again! :D

With the beginning of the new semester, I started to feel artsy and creative again :D especially because now I'm taking classes that have to do with art and ONLY art. It's been a little while since I submitted something, but trust me: the wait will be compensated :D.

Right now I'm taking 3 studio classes: Printmaking I, Ceramics II, and Painting II. God, it's so much fun! I'm being very productive, especially in Ceramics II :D and some surprises will await you later on (when they're done :giggle:).

I'm in very high spirits now :D woot!

...and I think I might be starting to know what my style and "artist's path" are :o...

Stay tuned for more art ;D some of my WIPs might be finished sooner than expected!

Happy New Year

Thu Jan 1, 2009, 8:43 PM
Happy New Year everybody!! :w00t: Hope all your wishes come true and that you accomplish all of your goals.

This new year celebration was pretty tranquil. I went to an aunt's house. It was her family and mine only. We were about 10 people or less hehe. It was nice anyway :).

For the past days I wasn't feeling too creative, and was pretty much submerged with surfing the internet. So, for this year, I'm gonna get active and start drawing once again. Whatever comes to mind, I'll do it :) (ideas are accepted too! xD).

I was having trouble starting to create something new because I have been way too accustomed to deadlines and school projects. This made me think that I could do art as long as I had a purpose (for a project, a commission, a contest, etc.). Then I saw that some of my schoolmates were working on anything they could think of just for practicing and for not being idle. This, and the phrase "Live a life you're proud of" (from the movie The Curious Life of Benjamin Button) touched me and really got into me. Nothing in the movie made me cry until they said that phrase, because that was the "push" I really needed. I have been feeling so... unfruitful until now (thanks to those mental thoughts that blocked me), but now I'll get active, and start working for real :w00t:.
