"El Respeto al derecho ajeno es la paz." - Benito Juarez
(The respect for the rights of the others is peace.)

My entry for a local juried art show. The theme is "What is your opinion regarding the border wall (el muro de la vergüenza) Mexico-US? In favor or against it?"

My piece (as well as the title) pretty much say everything. Both nations have pride. With that said, is obvious that both nations have more in common than the fact that they have an eagle as symbol of that pride.

In the picture there's one beak, but two different eagles: the golden eagle and a rattlesnake (symbol of Mexico, referring to the eagle in the flag) and the bald eagle with the olive branch and an arrow (symbolizing the seal of the US, and the power of war and peace that symbolize the olive branch and arrow.) Both eagles united as one look at the viewer with a judging gaze in a frontal view.

This is my opinion. What is yours?

my opinion is that it is a great painting and you did a great job! I also agree with you that the US and Mexico do have something in common

very cool, the effect of the stare is really intense. I'm surprised that its done in acrylics and colored pencils. The transition between the two birds functions really well too. Nice work :) I think I live too far from the border to have much of an opinion... but I like the presentation of yours.

Well I've no experience of the US-Mexican border but I've lived near other borders and think you've captured it the issue of duality wonderfully well in this beautiful and thought provoking painting. Wonderful!
